Premiership under achievers, Worcester Warriors have confirmed they are seeking further investments after media speculation that the club has been put up for sale.

The Rugby Paper reported that owner Greg Allen is set to walk away after the club made losses totalling £16m in the last three seasons.

Former Saracens chief executive, Edward Griffiths has been reported to be interested in forming a consortium to buy Worcester. Griffiths, who was brought in to Sixways as a consultant from early in the year, was announced to have left his position there with immediate effect this week.

Warriors chairman Bill Bolsover, speaking on behalf of Sixways Holdings Limited, said: "The club can confirm it is always seeking further investment to support our existing shareholders and to ensure that the club continues to compete at the highest level in the years ahead.

"This is part of our ongoing strategy and we are committed to finding the right partner to help take the club forward.

"The club have not set any deadlines on finding the right investor and the shareholders will continue to support the club as they have done for many years.”
